016 | Cross Country Life Update with Jess & Mike

Jun 17, 2022

In this episode, Mike and Jess are coming at you from Austin, TX where they discuss all things about their cross-country shenanigans as well as give us some useful glimpses into their decision-making process. It comes down to intentionally planning what you want out of life and then doing what is needed to get there. Loving the autonomy and freedom that comes with their remote business lifestyle, the couple loves the home base they have found in Scottsdale, AZ but have decided to also call New Jersey home once again as well.

We are all people outside of our businesses, and Mike and Jess give us an empowering example of how they use their business to get the best that life has to offer. Mike hints throughout the episode that you have to try different things out to feel what is right for you. Once Mike and Jess made the admittedly quick decision to move back, they debated on whether or not to get a house or an apartment and explain why they ultimately went with one over the other.

The episode finishes strong as Mike and Jess get vulnerable with us by explaining why this all matters. Why did they choose to do this? After all, it wasn’t just on a whim. Jess explains that we all have a carrot that we’re chasing. If you are on a fitness journey, your carrot may be a vanity metric to tone your arms. Likewise, if you are in business, your carrot may be to make money. There is nothing wrong with that, as Mike and Jess point out that is the same carrot that has afforded them the opportunities they talk about with us today. Now, the carrot has changed a bit and has become more intrinsic– to make memories with friends and family through the freedom and autonomy their business provides. Mike challenges us all with a worthwhile goal that this whole episode embodies, “Have crazy, stupid goals.”

As always, cheers to your evolution!
